One thing we’ve heard consistently from advisors is that they often wish they could spend less time on investment management and administrative tasks and more time with clients. That’s why many of the features we’re introducing this quarter, like our new order blotter tool and client portal updates, are designed to streamline workflows and enable advisors to focus more closely on clients.
Tamarac Trading: Simplifying trade management
Introducing the new Order Blotter
We’re excited to announce the launch of our new Order Blotter tool for streamlining and enhancing the management of fixed income trades. This powerful tool simplifies fixed income trade management with centralized order oversight, customizable data views, and automated reconciliation. Here are some of the key features that help advisors manage complex portfolios and custodial relationships more efficiently and effectively.
Manage orders centrally
From the Order Blotter, bond traders can manage generic bond orders sent by multiple portfolio managers for client accounts custodied at various custodians. This simplifies oversight and coordination, making it easier to handle complex portfolios and diverse custodial relationships.
Using the order blotter, users can:
- Manage orders with views so users can see a subtotal of the value of all orders for a specific symbol, summarize new or filled orders, and tailor a user’s page display for maximum efficiency and data insight
- Select account orders to fill after trading bonds, quickly enter execution details for the selected orders, and allocate filled orders to client accounts in Tamarac
- Automatically update holdings based on the orders in your blotter to help ensure a user’s portfolio reflects the most current information and reduce the risk of discrepancies and overspending cash
Access the Order Blotter page
When enabled, users can send generic fixed income trades to the Order Blotter from the Trade List. They can also access the Order Blotter in the Rebalance & Trade menu.

New client portal updates
Easily identify accounts on dashboard widgets
Based on feedback, we’ve brought the account selection front and center on the widget so advisors and their clients can quickly see what account or group the dashboard widget is displaying data for. The previous method of viewing data source using the account tree button is also available for viewing all accounts or a grouping of accounts.
See more data points on report pages
As we continue to expand the new client portal, we’ve enhanced the Reports pages with:
Holdings Report – We’ve added an Open Date column to the column selector for the main table, which displays the position level open data
Realized Gains/Losses Report – To give users a more robust view of gains and losses in accounts, we’ve added a source of record and a unit cost column to the Realized Gains/Losses report
Income and Expenses Report – To help users provide transparency and give their clients a better understanding of how they managing their investments, we’ve added custom columns that allow users to upload notes to the Income and Expenses report
Account Performance Report – This new release gives users greater control over additional indexes and when to include or exclude performance, allowing users to focus on specific aspects of the report
Show capital gains distributions as a report page
The option to create a new Capital Gains Distribution report can give users and their clients more robust insights into their capital gains situation. Based on realized gains/losses data, this report acts as its own report type in the new client portal, and enables users to show clients details of their capital gains distributions separately from other gains and losses.
See intra-day values on the summary widget
Timeliness matters in financial decisions. That's why, with this release, users can set up the Summary widget on the New Client Portal dashboard to provide traditional summary data points or a view that offers intra-day values. This enhancement makes it easy for clients to see in real time how a day’s events are affecting their portfolio.
